Chicago Cubs 5 – 0 Los Angeles Dodgers
Chicago took an early lead and Kyle Hendricks dominated the Dodgers, en route to a 5-0 victory and a berth in the 2016 World Series.
Hendricks combined with Aroldis Chapman to face the minimum 27 batters, shutting out the Dodgers for the first time this series. Despite giving up two hits, Hendricks was able to induce a double play and a pickoff. Chapman gave up a walk, but ended the game on a double play, allowing just 27 Dodgers to step up to the plate.
Early errors doomed the Dodgers, but it was all irrelevant as the bats never got going. Clayton Kershaw pitched five innings, allowing five runs (4 earned) and only striking out four – a season low for him. Kershaw also allowed two home runs as the Cubs steamrolled their way to the NL pennant.
