Chris Bosh left game one of the Miami Heat’s playoff series against the Indiana Pacers with what appeared to be an abdominal strain, suffered while dunking in the second quarter of Sunday’s game. Bosh was fouled on the play, and had trouble getting up off the ground, after the whistles blew. Following an MRI on Monday May 14, 2012, Bosh was ruled out indefinitely and the Heat must continue their playoff run without an important piece of “The Big 3.”

Bosh has missed time earlier in this season. In the nine games without Chris Bosh, the Heat went 4-5 and saw a dip in their average points per game. While LeBron James and Dwyane Wade showed in Game 1 that they can pick up the slack, scoring or assisting on 48 out of the 53 second half points scored by the heat, but they will need some help in the middle.
Even with Bosh in the lineup, the Pacers hold a significant size advantage over Miami. The depth of the Heat will truly be tested through the remainder of this series, and possibly deeper, depending on how far Miami makes it and how long Bosh ends up being sidelined.
