The city of Los Angeles has approved plans for a new football stadium, a plan reportedly worth $1.5 Billion in construction costs. The proposed stadium would also be connected to the existing L.A. Convention Center, in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.
Mike Redmond has been signed by the Marlins to a 3-year deal as manager of the struggling ballclub. Prior to this, Redmond was a Class-A manager in the Toronto Blue Jays association and a relative unknown in the coaching world – a far cry from the polarizing manager Guillen was.
Los Angeles Lakers point guard, Steve Nash, will likely miss today’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers. Nash’s status is officially listed as “Doubtful” although he was able to participate in Thursday’s practice. Nash suffered a bruise on his lower leg in Wednesday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
When cornerback Aqib Talib returns from his suspension next week, he will do so as a member of the New England Patriots. Talib was traded by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers along with a seventh-round draft pick to the Patriots in exchange for a fourth round draft pick
The San Francisco Giants did away with the Detroit Tigers in four games, thanks in large part to the hitting of Giants’ third baseman Pablo “Kung-Fu Panda” Sandoval. Sandoval hit .500 with three home runs, a double and four RBIs in 16 World Series at-bats.
New Houston Rocket, James Harden expects that he will sign a long-term deal with the Rockets prior to the season started. Harden’s inability to reach a long-term agreement with his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, is what led to his eventual trade to Houston.
Carl Crawford, who was traded from the Boston Red Sox to the Los Angeles Dodgers in August, said that he regrets waiting until July to have Tommy John surgery and that he felt pressured by fans in Boston to play, even though he was hurt
