Following a pretty intense week 6, the NFL named its weekly award winners.
American Football Conference (AFC)
- DeAndre Hopkins, receiver for the Houston Texans, has been named the AFC Offensive Player of week 6.
- Hopkins was a clear winner, snagging 10 receptions for 148 yards and two touchdowns in his game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- Cameron Wake, defensive end for the Miami Dolphins, has been named the AFC Defensive Player of week 6.
- Wake had a strong performance against the Tennessee Titans, recording four sacks and two forced fumbles.
- Chris Boswell, kicker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of week 6.
- Boswell was 4/4 on field goals during last week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, including a long of 51 yards.
National Football Conference (NFC)
- Calvin Johnson, receiver for the Detroit Lions, has been named the NFC Offensive Player of week 6.
- Johnson had six catches for 166 yards and a touchdown, but most crucial was his 57 yard catch in OT to help secure the Lions victory over the Chicago Bears.
- Kawann Short, defensive tackle for the Carolina Panthers, has been named the NFC Defensive Player of week 6.
- Short recorded two sacks and five tackles (including two for a loss) in last week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks
- Michael Mauti, linebacker for the New Orleans Saints, has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of week 6.
- Mauti recorded a key blocked punt during the game against the Atlanta Falcons.
