1. Aces High
This series could be a battle of ace pitchers.
Johnny Cueto
David Price
2. Offense vs Defense.
The Toronto Blue Jays are best hitting team
The Kansas City Roayls are best at taking hits away
3. CombacksRUs.
Toronto Blue Jays stormed back after losing the first 2 games of ALDS series, then after the 7th inning that still has the baseball world buzzing, they won game five to advance to the ALCS.
Kansas City Royals down by 4 runs in game 4 ALDS before a shocking comeback against the Houston Astros.
4. The Fan Factor Both clubs are starved for a champion.
Toronto Blue Jays fans came out in force for the ALDS. Some fans briefly lost their minds and threw things from the onto the field and crowd below, but the intimidating roar that tore through the stadium during the 7th inning surely played some factor in the three errors committed by the Rangers.
Kansas City Royals fans have to be of a certain age to remember their World Series win in 1985, and they endured a 23year stretch without playoff baseball. They’re more excited and passionate than ever.
5. We’ve Seen This One Before.
The Royals and Blue Jays have met in the postseason once before, back during the 1985 ALCS. The 2015 ALCS will be a rematch of the that version, which Kansas City beat the Blue Jays in seven games.
Kansas City hasn’t been able to win MLB’s championship trophy since then, and Toronto hasn’t won the World Series since 1993. It’s just a fun coincidence that the two teams are meeting again 30 years later.
6. Expect The Royals To Put A Lot Of Balls In Play.
No offense in baseball is more contact happy than the Royals. Their 15.9 percent strikeout rate during regular season was not only the lowest in baseball, it was the lowest since the Cardinals (15.7 percent) and Rangers (14.9 percent) in 2011.
