Never bet against Madison Bumgarner in a playoff elimination game. The New York Mets got a front row seat to Bumgarner’s complete game shutout as the San Francisco Giants advanced to the divisional round of the 2016 MLB Playoffs.
Both Noah Syndergaard and Bumgarner turned in pitching performances for the ages, but Bumgarner was able to go the distance while Syndergaard gave way to the bullpen after seven innings, two hits, and zero runs.
Conor Gillaspie finally broke the Giants through in the 8th, with a three-run home run off of Jeurys Familia, and that was all Bumgarner would need to get the CG Shutout.
The Giants move on to face the Chicago Cubs in game 1 of the NLDS on Friday.
