In one of the bigger shocks of the day, Major League Baseball has suspended San Diego Padres GM A.J. Preller for 30 days without pay. Ken Rosenthal reported that it might be related to the trade Preller made with the Boston Red Sox involving pitcher Drew Pomeranz.

It was reported earlier today that the Padres intentionally hid medical info from the league database, and it appears that the MLB has seen enough intent to suspend the Padres GM.
On July 14, the Red Sox traded one of their best pitching prospects, Anderson Espinoza, for San Diego’s All-Star left-hander Drew Pomeranz. Sources within the Boston organization say it wasn’t until after the deal was made that they became aware of some of the preventive measures that had been provided for Pomeranz.
Susan Slusser tweeted out the entire statement made by the League on the matter.
