College Football dropped a pop quiz on some teams this past weekend and while most teams showed up prepared, other teams saw their championship hopes dashed. There were a couple of tests that we had circled on our boards here at the All Sports Talk offices and while it wasn’t pretty, just about everyone pulled through.
The Twins and Rangers showed up at the 2010 MLB Playoff Party as our first guests. Cincinnati and Philadelphia hope to join them shortly, giving their ballclubs some much deserved rest.
A surprising list of teams remains among the NFL’s unbeaten at 2-0. After an event filled week 2 in the NFL season, see which of these teams has the best chance to remain unbeaten a little longer.
For the third week in a row, Alabama sits on top of both the AP and USA Today top 25 polls. Mark Ingram has the Tide in prime position heading into week 4, but Pryor and Moore are looking for Bama to falter.
NBA Jam is scheduled to be released as an add-on to NBA Elite for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Wii owners will get the chance to buy the game on its own. I myself am hoping that PS3 and XBLA come to their senses and allow us to download it without having to buy NBA Elite. NBA Elite will be dropping on October 5th.
Don’t look now, but the Rockies are within 2 games of the NL West lead and within 4 games of the NL Wildcard. And who do we have to thank this year? Troy Tulowitzki of course, whose onslaught of home runs in the past 2+ weeks has the Rockies yet again within striking distance of a playoff spot. The Rockies are certainly the team to watch, heading down the final stretch.
Roll Tide Roll is still the chant around the All Sports Talk offices, as Alabama retains their position atop both the AP and USA Today Polls. We could be yelling OH-IO pretty soon though, depending on how this weekend’s games go.
This week’s game could just as easily be billed as Revis vs. Moss as the two have exchanged enough trash talking to cover both teams – and then some. We all know that Revis doesn’t think too highly of Moss and I’m sure that the feeling is mutual, but there are more elements to this game than these two superstars.
There are less than 20 games remaining in the 2010 MLB season, which means that the number of teams mathematically eliminated from postseason contention is piling up faster than double cheeseburger wrappers during a Kirstie Alley binge. Ok, so that might have been a cheap shot, but regardless, more than half the teams, as of tonight, no longer even have a sliver of a chance of tasting October.
Week 1 of the 2010 NFL season is in the books and it was just about everything that we could have hoped for. We had fantasy leagues get blown up by relatively unknown players, we had officiating controversy that cost some teams a win, and we had epic matchups (some lived up to the hype, others not so much). So as we take a look back at what was an exciting opening week in the NFL, here are some brief notes on each of the games.
